Terry McNulty has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2016 Political Courage Test.
| Pro-life | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| I maybe should not be here today and have a great value for life. Children are also a gift from God and it is his decision only not a doctor's about which life is worth saving or allowing. There are consequences to every act we do but not every act always ends up with the development of a life. Like starts at conception and ends only when God decides we have had enough. | |||
| Yes | In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending? | ||
| No | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| I am for a balanced budget and plans to retire debt. See my website friendsofterrymcnulty.com I don't ever want to have to send a half a million service people to a Country where people don't like us but we can be strong through technology and smaller training forces or special operations. We still do need to be a very capable force and keep up with technologies too. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| The money behind people with special interests is a problem in "politics" as usual. Nobody should even just take what they see and hear through media for true information anymore. | |||
| Yes | Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes? | ||
| Yes | Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment? | ||
| No | Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders? | ||
| We have become a nation where lawlessness is accepted. It is wrong and needs to be corrected. I will vote in favor of giving law enforcement the authority again to do their job and enforce the laws of this once great nation. Constitutionally it is the courts job and a jury of peers to determine punishment. | |||
| Yes | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation? | ||
| I am a fan of a flat tax we have heard a lot about again this year. Remember a long time ago a brilliant man talked about a 15% flat tax? Well that talk is back and flat tax means businesses and corporations would be treated the same as individuals. Not taxing companies out of business our our Country anymore but making most people the drivers of the economy by taking more home if only paying 15%. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants? | ||
| The State is exactly where education reforms should take place. Federal Grants? The Federal Government should not be holding local school boards at ransom anymore. It is all our money and education is an item that needs to go back to local control and not be bullied by big government. | |||
| Yes | Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline? | ||
| No | Do you support funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)? | ||
| Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry? | |||
| I am undecided on "fracking." It is again more of a local issue. I have not been presented studied on harm from this new technology of recovering natural resources. I don't think tax payer money should be used for development of renewable energies. Product development is part of doing business and once a company patents a product that works there are great rewards to be had. | |||
| No | Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| We have plenty of regulation. Some work and some not so good but our Country is the cleanest of industrial nations and it is costing us jobs. We need to be more selective of products we buy and not reward those that harm the environment just because it doesn't happen here. | |||
| No | Do you generally support gun-control legislation? | ||
| There is nothing wrong with the second amendment. I actually like to shoot and have taught thousands to hand what might have been their first weapon. We need to be tough on criminals and those unstable people that acquire a weapon with intent to do harm. Today especially people again are feeling they need to be as militarized as our government and law enforcement. Yes, that is scary. | |||
| Yes | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")? | ||
| I am just not sure it can completely be repealed and now hear of a plan to replace it with something more competitive but keep some parts people do like. Those parts have come at a price for those that usually would be less of a risk for insurance companies. So it has been bad for most healthy people penalizing them for being healthy and requiring them to pay for others. That is not something from a free republic. There are parts this bad "law" that already have not been enforced. I can argue those are not enforceable. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
| Illegal is illegal. People that immigrated here the right way and wanted to be part of the United States of American for that American Dream really take offense to those here illegally taking up jobs and making them look bad. We can not case down every illegal alien but when we catch them they should be deported. If big business today want to help good people become citizens then they should take that approach and I want to see productive people that want to be Americans to continue to assimilate. Again see friendsofterrymcnulty.com | |||
| No | Do you support same-sex marriage? | ||
| There are many legal ways to share assets and benefits but marriage is a sacrament of the church and not a social issue Government should be involved in. | |||
| Yes | Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict? | ||
| Yes | Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon? | ||
| We need to answer terror groups with force. Again I think we have technology and the best trained force in the World but we need to have local partners and really back our friends but nobody really needs a nuclear weapon. | |||
| No | Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts? | ||
| Social Security was set up as an insurance to prevent poverty of the elderly. Today to many are drawing that haven't put into it. I am for more of a means testing to determine benefits of the future. | |||

| It is a more dangerous World today than ever. We must first fell safe before we can prosper. A lot of research and development cost again belong to the companies that stand to profit from it. | |||
| I have learned some people do not really like the idea of a flat tax. Flat tax to me is more fair so for businesses and corporations I believe there would be decreases and even high income people would have a lower rate but today they work this system to actually pay less than most of us in the middle. I was actually explained this by an attorney that said he got paid a lot to make sure his client payed less than even 15%. I can now only say for most people tax reform will be good. | |||
| I've already stated several time security is the number one issue and once we feel safe I'm sure this Country can prosper again but that will take a control of spending and tax reform. Elected people can set the example by eliminating golden parachutes of "retirement benefits" and start accepting the plans they vote on to know if they are good or bad. To have a plan our government needs to produce a balanced budget including a plan to address the over spending of the past. We need to get government back to the business they are authorized. |
